'Snakes in the Grass' in Higher Education
Year of the Snake
In Malaysia, we celebrate all holidays, reflecting the diversity that gives life to the tagline "Malaysia Truly Asia," popularized during the Tourism Malaysia campaign back in 2015. One of the most significant celebrations here is Chinese New Year. Lion dances fill the streets, vibrant red lanterns hang in abundance, and families spanning four generations come together for reunion dinners. It's also a time when many take a rare two-week break from work. This year, we welcome the year of The Snake, a zodiac sign embodying wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation.
Much like the snake sheds its skin for renewal, 2025 holds the promise of transformation and rebirth for international education. As the snake symbolizes intuition and resilience, we hope higher education embraces these qualities to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the coming year.
