IELTS technical error hits at worst possible moment for Home Office tender
The timing could not be worse for the IELTS consortium. With the UK Home Office preparing to renew its Secure English Language Testing framework, a global technical scandal has erupted. Candidates who took IELTS between August 2023 and September 2024 have discovered that their scores in the reading and listening sections were wrong, in some cases raised and in others lowered, due to what the organisers described as an internal technical system error. This was first confirmed by Vietnamese media, where candidates reported significant score changes months after sitting the exam.
