From classroom to career: Why universities need deeper alliances with international schools

Higher education has become increasingly preoccupied with recruitment. Across the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States, universities devote substantial resources to attracting students, managing agent networks, responding to visa policy changes and competing for market share in an increasingly crowded global marketplace. Yet amid this focus on getting students through the front door, relatively little attention is paid to what happens before students arrive on campus or after they leave. This is becoming a strategic weakness at a time when students, parents and governments are placing greater emphasis on employability, value for money and long-term career outcomes.
